RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT WORKER - SOLO PLACEMENTS

A Snapshot of the Residential Support Worker - Solo placements

As a Solo worker you will be required dependent on referrals to work in and around the Leeds area. You will be a lone worker, working a 3 week rota shift pattern, and whilst on shift you will be there to support the young person to develop the practical skills needed to live well independently, such as cooking and budgeting. You will also be expected to support and encourage young people to engage with education/training or employment.

About You

The young people are at the heart of everything you do day-to-day, from updating risk assessments to supporting the young people in their meetings.
You will need to be resilient but also able to empathise without judgement. Great interpersonal skills, being able to resolve issues, being resilience and a good problem solver. IT literacy is important, as we need to produce daily and monthly reports for each young person. Most importantly, you need to have a passion for working and supporting young people on their transition from childhood and adulthood to independence.

You will have proven experience working with young people within different environments. Your focus will be supporting young people with 24/7 placements, including sleeps, on a rolling shift basis.

This role covers placements in and around the Leeds area and therefore you must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.

Shifts are from 10am - 10am the following day with a sleep between 12am and 8am. The annual salary is based on working 10 shifts per month including sleeps. The salary quoted includes the sleep ins.

To be successful in this role these are the essential skills needed:

  • Experience working with and coaching young people aged 16+.
  • Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour and complex issues
  • Have or be willing to work towards NVQ 3 Health & Social Care
  • Knowledge of safeguarding young people
  • IT literate
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Driving Licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
