Last weekend, our incredible Fire Safety Officer, Edward Parry, embarked on an awe-inspiring journey that combined determination, dedication, and compassion. Eddie, along with familiar faces from Bedspace - Thomas Culshaw, Dave Moreno, and Tom Unsworth - took on an astonishing 21-mile rowing challenge across Windermere and back.

Their mission? To raise funds and awareness for the CRY Charity (Cardiac Risk in the Young), a cause that hits home for Eddie and his family. Tragically, Eddie's son, Daniel Parry, lost his life to the rare genetic condition, Brugada Syndrome. In Daniel's memory, the Parry family initiated a memorial fund to support CRY's vital work in raising awareness about young sudden cardiac death, providing assistance to affected individuals, contributing to CRY’s screening program, and advancing crucial research and pathology efforts.

Through pouring rain and unwavering resolve, Eddie and the fantastic team of volunteers persevered, completing this monumental challenge in an astounding 7 hours and 15 minutes. It was an inspiring display of unity as people came together to rally behind this fantastic cause.
