Mental Well-Being through Boxing with Courtney Fry! 🥊💙
As part of our mental well-being initiatives in Liverpool, the team have been working closely with Courtney Fry to create a safe space for our team and young people through fitness and boxing.
These are weekly sessions that allow our team to have time with the young people they support, in an environment that promotes mental well-being, self-confidence and teamwork.
This has had a huge positive impact on the young people who have attended, with some saying that it was the highlight of their week!
We are so proud to be able to fund these sessions with such an inspiring individual who embodies our values of being a part of the community, empowering, loving what we do, and going above and beyond!
A bit more about Courtney! 🏆
Courtney is originally from London, loving a variety of sports from an early age before getting into Boxing at 15. Courtney confesses in his youth that he was becoming a bit of a troublemaker and was losing his way. Within his 27 years of competing, he has won 3 National titles from 3 different clubs, European (Silver), and Commonwealth (Gold). He was also one of two Boxers to qualify for the Sydney Olympics and has won countless multi-nation tournaments around the world and become No. 1 in Great Britain.
In 2000, Courtney began volunteering and gaining qualifications in mentoring and working with disengaged vulnerable people. This led to him working for YST Youth Sport (SkySportsLivingforSports, Young mental Health Champions, DKHT Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, city councils, and organisations up and down the country).
"With seeing gaps in programmes that I have delivered I have organised Gateway4Growth CIC in order to look for funding to try and fill in those gaps to help those groups of people."
