Bedspace Celebrates Black History Month!
25 10 24
At Bedspace, we are committed to providing the young people we support with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. One way we do this is through the ASDAN programme, which equips individuals with essential life skills. A key part of our work focuses on the Race, Relationships & Culture section, where young people explore what it means to be part of a community and understand cultures different from their own.
In recognition of Black History Month, we emphasise the importance of appreciating and learning about the rich history, contributions, and impact of Black communities. Through our ASDAN sessions, we help foster understanding and respect for all cultures, which is essential in building inclusive communities.
As part of National Care Leavers' Week next week, our Yorkshire team will be collaborating with young people in our Solo and Group Living services. They’ll be choosing topics related to Black History Month, such as the history and impact of Black culture or Black health and wellness, to create presentations that reflect their learning.
We encourage everyone to take this time to not only celebrate but also support Black communities. You can donate to charities such as Stop Hate UK, Black Minds Matter UK, Black Equality Foundation, and many more, making a real difference in the fight for equality and justice.
Let’s continue to uplift and celebrate the strength that diversity brings to all of us.
