We are delighted to announce that our first children’s home, in Staffordshire Moorlands, is officially open after gaining Ofsted approval!

Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, inspects services providing education and skills for learners of all ages, as well as services that care for children and young people. We are really pleased to announce that during our recent inspection, the Ofsted inspector described our children’s home as a “lovely, welcoming and family like home”.  This news is a huge step for Bedspace, and we’re so proud of our team who made it happen.

Our new home will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children, aged 8 up to 18 years old, with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Importantly, we will be providing the children in our care with an opportunity to be supported as they transition through our unique and flexible services pathway. We are proud to be able to support the children on their journey to independence and adulthood, with tailored services including group living, trainer flats and semi-independent living.

This new home will act as a blueprint for other children’s homes which we hope to open in the future. As we continue focusing on creating a positive and supportive environment for the children in our care.

Following the Ofsted approval, we are set to hit the ground running. Our Head of Service, Registered Manager and Deputy Manager have been busy completing the registration process, assembling a team and all other aspects of setting the home up, and have already started recruiting to the second home.

In line with our ambitions  to transform the lives of more vulnerable young people across the UK. This Ofsted approval is paving the way for achieving our ambition of opening five children’s homes in five years. Watch this space!

We spoke to Daniel Wilson, our head of children’s residential, who told us:

So much work has been put in by our incredible team to make this first home a place that will allow the children in our care to thrive and feel supported in a safe and nurturing environment. We are delighted that the home has now been approved by Ofsted, and can’t wait to welcome the children in our communities who need our support. The project will hopefully help make a huge positive difference to many children’s lives.

“I have no doubt that the passion and dedication to transform lives that has made this first home a success will enable us to make our vision of opening more homes a reality in the near future.”
