Registered Manager - Children's Home

The age range of children within our care ranges from 8-18 years and our homes have a 3-child capacity.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in Staffordshire, ensuring high-quality, safe and therapeutic care for young people. You will be responsible for the overall management of the home, maintaining compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, and driving positive outcomes for children and young people.
Working closely with the Head of Children’s Residential, you will provide strong leadership to the staff team, embed a therapeutic ethos, and develop effective partnerships with local authorities, families and external agencies. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational oversight, safeguarding knowledge and a commitment to continuous improvement.
About You
You will be a confident and resilient leader with significant experience within children’s residential care and a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks. You will be passionate about improving outcomes for young people and creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment.
You will bring excellent leadership and organisational skills, alongside the ability to manage complex situations, support staff development and maintain high standards of practice. A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the children’s residential home, ensuring a safe and supportive 24/7 service.
- Maintain compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and safeguarding requirements.
- Lead, supervise and develop the staff team, including recruitment, performance management and training.
- Embed a therapeutic model of care that supports the emotional, physical and social development of children and young people.
- Build effective relationships with placing authorities, families, schools, health professionals and partner agencies.
- Monitor performance, outcomes and quality assurance systems to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets, resources and operational planning effectively.
- Oversee risk management, health and safety, and safeguarding within the home.
- Contribute to service development, inspections and strategic planning.
Essentials
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (Residential Management pathway) or willingness to achieve.
- Minimum two years’ recent senior experience within a children’s residential setting.
- At least one year’s experience managing a team within a care environment.
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, safeguarding and residential childcare practice.
- Experience working collaboratively with external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
- Budget management and service delivery experience.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
